Doctor Seaweed’s pure Scottish seaweed is a natural wholefood, rich in iodine, which is an essential nutrient you have to get in your diet.

The main sources of iodine are white fish and dairy, with seaweed being the only natural and plant based source of this essential nutrient. This is why the majority of the UK and Europe are deficient in iodine. Iodine is needed for your thyroid to work properly, as iodine is required in the production of thyroid hormones which have many impacts on your health and wider wellness.

A diet insufficient in iodine can result in numerous health conditions, including an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), with symptoms including tiredness and fatigue, weight gain or difficulty losing weight, sensitivity to cold, depression, brittle hair and nails, dry skin and more.

VITAMIN B-COMPLEX:

Vitamin B complex is a term used for the B vitamins. They can be found in foods such as eggs, milk and fish – therefore, those following a more plant-based diet may find it difficult to get the B-vitamins in their diet without supplementation.

It is highly concentrated in the brain, with the highest levels found in the area responsible for memory and learning (the hippocampus). It also has an integral role in eye health, as it helps to bring vitamin A to the retina. Poor night vision and cloudy cataracts have both been linked to Zinc deficiency. OMEGA-3 DHA:

Our plant-based Omega-3 DHA is sourced from algal and supports your brain function and vision. Omega-3 DHA is a major building block of the brain, making up around 30% of brain matter. DHA is thought to be the most complex form of omega-3 but is also one of the most difficult to consume enough of, since it is present in limited food sources. Brain cells with higher levels of Omega-3 are thought to be better at communicating with other cells, which can help to improve learning and memory. Omega-3 is also important for the development of vision and function of the retina.
