Have you been lucky enough to receive ishga treats this Christmas? Let's look at the best techniques for applying your new ishga products, and insider tips and tricks to maximise your results for nourished, glowing skin!  

Daily skincare routine for glowing skin  

Cleanse 

Using ourActive Cleansing Lotion, orExfoliating Face Wash, apply a few pumps to your skin, massage in gentle circle motions all over (be delicate around the eye area) and use a face cloth with warm water to remove. Prefer a cleansing balm? OurMarine Cleansing Balm Is also great for taking off makeup. Take a small amount and rub between your hands to warm the balm and activate the ingredients. Massage gently all over your face, eyes and lips to feel the grime of the day disappear. Then remove with a soft face cloth and warm water. 

Tone 

ApplyHebridean Marine Toner. Either spray some onto cotton pads and sweep over your face, or spritz directly onto your face for a refreshing boost of hydration. You can do this any time of day, over and under makeup. 

Treat 

Serums are great for penetrating deep into the skin and giving your skin a powerful, hydrating boost. OurRegenerating Face Serum  delivers immediate results through a high concentration of seaweed extract, leaving your skin feeling nourished and soothed. It’s known as our ‘natural lift’! Take a few pumps onto your fingertips, press over the face and neck, and under the eye area delicately. Top tip: Activate the serum by gently tapping your fingers on your skin with ‘raindrop’ pressure motions until it’s absorbed into your skin. 

You can include more targeted products too like an eye balm, depending on your skin needs. Using ourRejuvenating Eye Balm will help to reduce the appearance of dark circles, puffiness and dehydration. Take a small pea sized amount onto the fingertip and press gently underneath the eye. Sweep outwards and upwards lightly using the ring finger.  

Moisturise & hydrate 

Optional for an extra hydrating boost: Simply take two to three pumps of ourNourishing Face Oil onto your fingertips and gently massage onto your skin. Spend five minutes on a facial massage using upwards and outwards movements across the face, this will help to boost circulation resulting in a healthy glow. 

Last but definitely not least, we apply ourmoisturiser. This step should be done after you have applied any serum and face oil.Moisturisers are generally richer in consistency (due to their larger molecules) and treat the superficial layers of the skin (the epidermis). They should be applied last to lock in moisture and create a protecting barrier for the skin. 

Extra step twice a week: 

Using ourExfoliating Face Mask on a weekly or bi-weekly basis will help to remove dead skin cells and reveal a brighter complexion. Press onto the skin and leave until it’s dry for around 5-10 minutes. Then take someActive Cleansing Lotion and rub in circular motions over your face, to soften the mask before removing with warm water and a face cloth.

Using ishga products will set you on the path to achieving glowing skin, but what else can we do to help our skin?  

Double Cleanse 

Double cleansing involves using a cleanser, balm or micellar water to break down the sebum and make-up on the surface of your skin, then following up with a water-based cleanse. This second round of cleansing will get deeper into your pores, removing those impurities. ishga Marine Cleansing Balm is great for removing the days impurities and taking make-up off. Then follow up using a water-based cleanser like Active Seaweed Cleansing Lotion. 

Remove your makeup before bed 

If you leave your makeup on while sleeping, the skin won’t be able to renew and repair itself at its optimum. This can lead to signs of fatigue and dryness on the skin, and most of all waking up without that fresh well-rested glow! 

Sleep 

Even when we are sleeping our bodies are working away, using the time to repair itself. Any products you apply to your skin before bedtime will be working at their optimum. Applying heavy duty products, such as facial oils, means that your skin can properly absorb the product allowing it to work overnight, uninterrupted. At nighttime, the regeneration process is quicker than during the day, sometimes up to as much as three times as faster. 

A good night's sleep will go towards keeping your skin in its best condition, but also don’t forget to stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet and do whatever it is that keeps your mind at peace, whether that’s exercising, meditation, or just reading a book. Calm on the inside will show on the outside. 

Try to reduce stress 

Feeling stressed is a common condition that most of us will have experienced at some point in our lives. Meditating, yoga or even just going for a walk can all help to alleviate the effects. When we feel stressed our nervous system releases hormones cortisol and adrenaline. The increase in cortisol can lead to an increase in oil production which can then lead to clogged pores and breakouts.
