ishga Sponsors WIIGA Athletes at the 2025 Island Games

We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the Western Isles Island Games Association (WIIGA), whose talented athletes are currently representing the Western Isles at the 2025 International Island Games in Orkney. As champions of health, wellbeing, and community, we are thrilled to be part of this journey.

A global celebration of island sport

Every two years, thousands of athletes from island communities across the globe - from the chilly shores of Scandinavia to the sun-drenched coasts of the Mediterranean, and from the North Atlantic to the Caribbean - gather to compete in the International Island Games where elite athletes go going head-to-head across a week of thrilling sporting events. The Games span a diverse range of disciplines, including swimming, shooting, sprinting, target and endurance sports, and team competitions such as football, basketball, and volleyball. It’s a true celebration of athleticism, determination, and international camaraderie.

Who are WIIGA?

The Western Isles Island Games Association (WIIGA) is a non-profit organisation formed in 2002. Led by a committee of passionate volunteer coaches and supporters, WIIGA provides vital opportunities for athletes across the Western Isles to train, grow, and compete at international level.

Their mission goes beyond athletic excellence: WIIGA fosters friendship through sport, building strong bonds between island communities and instilling pride in representing the Outer Hebrides on the world stage. Over the years, they have cultivated incredible talent and helped athletes achieve their full potential - always with the unwavering support of the local community.

ishga's commitment to community

As a brand deeply rooted in the Outer Hebrides, ishga’s partnership with WIIGA reflects our shared values of supporting the community and celebrating local athletes. Since 2021 ishga has been sponsoring Scottish swimmer and WIIGA competitor Kara Hanlon, who comes from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. Her swimming career continues to go from strength to strength and we are delighted to be able to support her on her competitive journey. The success of WIIGA in past Games has always been driven by community support - and this year, we are honoured to be part of that, supporting the WIIGA athletes as they step onto the international stage fills us with immense pride.

To every athlete competing for the Western Isles: we’re cheering you on from the Outer Hebrides and on behalf of everyone at ishga, we wish you the very best of luck in Orkney!
