This month we caught up with one of the Co-founders and Directors of ishga, Malcolm Macrae. Learn about how his science background, marriage and friendships led to the creation of the luxury skincare brand we know today.

We’re very lucky to have our headquarters on the beautiful Isle of Lewis. On a sunny day, the island looks stunning, but it’s often turbulent, and changing weather patterns give it a mystical quality too.

Lewis is part of the Outer Hebrides, a series of islands located off the west coast of Scotland. The islands used to be much more isolated and relied on the ocean to sustain small communities. They’re also steeped in unique myths and legends and we thought you might like to hear about some of them.

This week we’d like to tell you about some of the exciting things that are happening for ishga right now. From humble beginnings in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, we’re now seeing demand for our seaweed skincare right across the world. It’s wonderful to see, and we’re so grateful.

We’d like to tell you more about the special ingredients in this little jar of natural goodness. At ishga, we fondly refer to our Anti-oxidant Marine Cream as our ‘hero product’ and for good reason. It’s one of our earliest creations, painstakingly developed by our team of scientists, and loved by customers worldwide.

This week, we’d like to introduce you to Isla MacKenzie, a 27-year old from Stornoway on the Island of Lewis, who now lives in Oxfordshire and works in Formula 1 as a Technician, testing engines for Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains.

We’re delighted to announce that our much-awaited eco-friendly packaging is now ready across the majority of our range. So, the next time you order your favourite products, they’ll promptly arrive in beautiful, frosted glass bottles and jars to adorn your bathroom shelves. We are aiming to apply this across our entire range and will be updating even more products with beautiful glass bottles very soon.

At ishga we’re very lucky to live on a beautiful island with some of the most beautiful, unspoiled beaches in the world. On a hot summer’s day, it’s simply paradise. There’s no doubt about it, we look forward to long, summer days when we can peel off layers, and enjoy the sunshine.
